Nanny and household payroll: what each service costs
Prices re-confirmed on each provider's own page:
Pay a nanny, caregiver or housekeeper as your employee and you are a household employer: you withhold and pay their taxes and file Schedule H with your own tax return. The services below run that payroll and file those taxes for you. This page compares what each one publishes on its own website: its fees only, not the wages or the taxes themselves. General information, not tax or legal advice.
The lowest published monthly list prices among the 3 household payroll services we track that publish prices; list prices only; checked November 4, 2026. We call a service the cheapest only when it costs at least $5 and 5% less than the next one. Not priced: SurePayroll, whose own pages give different prices.

No price shown. SurePayroll's own pages give different prices for its household plan, so we show none until they agree:
- “Starting at $39/month. Billed monthly. Cancel anytime.” (its plan card also shows $45 next to the $39, and the page calls it a “limited-time offer”; surepayroll.com)
- “SurePayroll offers two base plans: Full-Service Payroll at $29/month plus $7 per employee, which includes automatic tax filing and deposits, and No Tax Filing (Self-Service) at $20/month plus $4 per employee, where you handle tax filings yourself.” (the same page's answer to “How much does SurePayroll's household payroll service cost?”; surepayroll.com)

Why not a regular payroll service?
The services in our payroll calculator are built for businesses, and not all of them handle a household's taxes. Patriot's help center says: “Patriot does not file Schedule H or handle payroll tax deposits and filings for household employers.” (help.patriotsoftware.com, checked November 3, 2026). Before choosing a service for a nanny, check that it files the household's taxes, Schedule H included.
The IRS explains a household employer's taxes in Publication 926, Household Employer's Tax Guide.
